Heads of School Records
Scope and Contents
Heads of School Records contains materials created by the heads or head's offices of Browne & Nichols, Buckingham, and BB&N. Materials include correspondence, meeting minutes, photographs, and committee records. Of particular interest are the materials of B&N founder George Browne, Buckingham principal Katharine Thompson, and the papers of Peter K. Gunness, the B&N Head of School who spanned the merger in 1974 and became the first Head of BB&N.

Biographical / Historical
The Heads of each school are listed below. Overlapping years in office indicate that two Heads were running the school together. This is particularly notable at Browne & Nichols, as cofounders George Browne and Edgar Nichols ran the school together until Nichols' death in 1910. After Nichols's death, Willard Reed was brought on to serve as co-head with Browne.
